Fire Prevention Day at Grand Haven Christian

Ryan had the pleasure of sponsoring Fire Prevention Day at Grand Haven Christian this year. Officer Kelvin Miller from Grand Haven Public Safety gave presentations to classrooms and brought a fire truck for the students to walk through.

Some key tips they provided for parents and students:

  • Turn pot handles towards the back of the stove.
  • Always keep a lid nearby when cooking. If a small grease fire starts, slide the lid over the pan and turn off the burner.
  • Watch what you heat, set a timer to remind you that you are cooking.
  • Have a “kiddo-free zone” of at least 3 feet around the stove and areas where hot food/drink is prepared or carried.

Our children are so important to us and using caution in and around the kitchen when cooking will help keep them safe.
